Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Peachbend collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when you use Peachbend’s website, applications, and related services (together, the “Services”). Use of Peachbend is also governed by our Terms of Service.
Peachbend is an AI-powered education platform. It helps students, teachers, tutors, homeschool users, and organizations turn learning materials — such as notes, PDFs, documents, slides, links, images, and audio or video files — into structured lessons and related educational content. Depending on the features you use, Peachbend may generate lessons, explanations, quizzes, flashcards, summaries, diagrams, presentations, and other study or teaching materials. Teachers and organizations may also create or manage student/viewer accounts.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use Peachbend. We do not collect every category below from every person.
Account information
When you create or are given an account, we may store:
- Name or display name
- Email address
- Username
- Password (stored in hashed form if you sign up with email and password)
- Profile details you choose to provide, such as a profile photo, learning preferences, onboarding responses, plan and role, and email-notification settings
If a teacher or organization creates a student or viewer account for you, they may provide your name, email address, username, and a temporary password so you can sign in.
Google Sign-In information
You can sign in with Google. Ordinary Google Sign-In requests only the standard Google identity scopes openid, email, and profile. From those scopes, Peachbend receives identifiers needed to sign you in, typically including your Google account email address, name, and public profile photo URL.
If a Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, or Slides file you intentionally add cannot be retrieved publicly, Peachbend asks you to connect Drive and separately requests Google’s Drive read-only scope (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly) so that, when you paste or add the link, Peachbend can retrieve its content using your Google access token. Google classifies this scope as restricted, and it technically permits Peachbend to read files in your Drive that your Google account can access. Peachbend uses that permission only to retrieve Google files you intentionally submit as sources; the product does not provide a general Drive browser or scan your Drive. Peachbend does not request access to Gmail, Google Contacts, or Google Calendar.
Google User Data
This section describes information obtained through Google APIs (including Google Sign-In and, where authorized, Google Drive).
What we access. Peachbend accesses (1) basic Google identity information (email, name, and profile photo) to create or match your Peachbend account and keep you signed in; and (2) Google Drive / Google Workspace file metadata and content when you separately authorize Drive access and submit a file link. The current Drive read-only permission is broad enough to cover files the signed-in user is allowed to open, although Peachbend’s product uses it only for the links you submit. Access and refresh tokens issued by Google are retained within Peachbend’s protected authentication session so the Services can retrieve those files while your authorization remains valid. An access token may also be held briefly in Peachbend’s protected cache while a background import is completed.
Why we access it and how it is used. Identity information is used to authenticate you, create or look up your Peachbend user record, display your name and photo in the product, and send service emails to the address associated with your account. Drive file content is used solely to provide Peachbend features you request — for example extracting text, indexing the material, and generating lessons or other outputs from that source. Peachbend does not use Google user data to serve advertisements, and does not sell Google user data.
Whether it is stored and for how long. Your Google email and name are stored on your Peachbend account. Peachbend downloads a Google file temporarily when needed for extraction and deletes that temporary copy after processing. Extracted text is divided into chunks and stored in Peachbend’s per-user search index so it can support the lessons, chat, and outputs you request. Generated lessons and related workspace data may also be stored. We retain this information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain your account, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security, subject to the deletion choices described below.
Whether it is shared. Google user data is not sold. Relevant extracted content may be processed by hosting and storage providers and by the AI provider used to generate the educational content you request, as described in “How We Share Information” and “AI Processing.” We may also disclose information if required by law or as otherwise described in this policy.
Revoking Google authorization. You can disconnect Peachbend from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. See “Google Authorization” below.
Peachbend’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Peachbend uses Google user data only to provide and support user-facing Peachbend features that you request, does not use it for advertising, and transfers it only where necessary to provide or secure those features, comply with applicable law, or as otherwise permitted by that policy.
User-provided content
To provide the Services, we process content you or an authorized teacher submit, which may include:
- Uploaded documents, PDFs, notes, text, CSV files, EPUBs, Word files, and slides
- Images (including photos of pages or handwritten notes)
- Audio files and some video containers that Peachbend transcribes
- Links, including web pages and YouTube URLs
- Google Drive or Google Workspace links, if you sign in with Google
- Chat messages, prompts, questions, and lesson-generation instructions
- Generated lessons and Content Creator outputs such as quizzes, flashcards, slide decks, summaries, reports, diagrams, mind maps, tables, and related assets
- Lesson assignments and personalized versions shared with student/viewer accounts
This content is processed so Peachbend can index sources, generate and save lessons, refine sections, produce practice materials, and operate Teacher Management features.
Usage and technical information
We automatically collect information needed to operate and secure the Services, including:
- IP address
- Browser and device information (such as user agent)
- Authentication and session records (including approximate device label and last-seen time)
- Application activity, such as feature use, generation jobs, and quota/usage counters
- Server logs and error information
Peachbend logs application requests and errors in its own infrastructure. Peachbend does not use advertising pixels or advertising cookies.
Communications
If you use the contact form, join a waitlist, or email us, we receive the details you send (such as name, email, role, subject, and message). We also send transactional and service emails, subject to the email preferences available in your account.
Billing information
Peachbend does not currently collect payment-card information through the Services.
2. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Create, maintain, and secure accounts
- Authenticate users, including Google Sign-In and password sign-in
- Provide Peachbend functionality, including source ingest, search over your materials, lesson generation, tutoring chat, and Content Creator outputs
- Process uploaded and linked learning materials
- Personalize lessons based on settings, preferences, and onboarding information you or a teacher provide
- Save work such as conversations, lessons, uploads, avatars, and assignments
- Let teachers create viewer accounts, assign lessons, and manage those classrooms
- Provide customer support and respond to contact-form messages
- Send transactional and service emails (for example welcome, assignment, lesson-ready, and usage notices), according to your email preferences where those controls apply
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, enforce session limits, and diagnose errors
- Improve reliability and functionality of the Services
- Meet legal obligations
3. AI Processing
Peachbend uses artificial intelligence to provide substantial parts of the Services, including reading source materials, generating lessons and explanations, chat (“Peach”), images or diagrams, transcription, and text-to-speech when those features are enabled.
To fulfill a request, Peachbend may transmit user prompts, uploaded or linked source materials, relevant excerpts of indexed content, chat history, and related instructions to AI and infrastructure providers. This includes Google-derived file content after Peachbend extracts and indexes it. Peachbend uses:
- Google Gemini for language, vision, image, and supported audio features
Embeddings for search over your sources are generated with an on-platform sentence-transformers model; the source chunks themselves reside in Peachbend’s index storage. If Peachbend enables another provider to process user data, this policy will be updated as appropriate.
Peachbend uses this information to operate the product for you. Processing performed by AI vendors is service-provider processing necessary to generate the output you requested. Their handling of data is also governed by their applicable terms, privacy policies, and Peachbend’s provider arrangements.
4. How We Share Information
Peachbend does not sell personal information. We share information with service providers that help us run the Services, including:
- Application hosting, database, storage, cache/session, and background-job infrastructure
- AI and model providers described above
- Authentication with Google, when you choose Google Sign-In
- Email delivery providers
- Public-web and YouTube lookup services when Peachbend searches for supporting videos or web results
- YouTube, when you add a YouTube link or Peachbend embeds or suggests videos
Uploaded learning materials and generated lessons are not published as a public library. Teachers may share lessons with student/viewer accounts they manage. Exported files you download (for example PDF, DOCX, or PPTX) are under your control once downloaded.
We may also disclose information:
- When required by law, legal process, or governmental request
- To protect users, Peachbend, or the security and integrity of the Services
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, in which case the successor would be bound to handle information consistent with this policy or would provide notice of changes
5. Data Storage and International Transfers
Peachbend and its service providers may process and store information in the United States and in other countries. If you use the Services from another country, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or accessed from a country that may have different data-protection rules than your own. We use service providers that offer commercially reasonable protections and handle international transfers as required by applicable law.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain your account, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. Retention may vary by the type of information and the reason we hold it.
Signed-in users can delete individual uploaded files, saved lessons, and creator conversations from the product, and can clear material from the active search index. Deleting an uploaded file removes the stored original, while clearing or replacing the active source removes its extracted chunks from the per-user search index. Related generated assets, logs, or backups may remain for a limited time where needed for security, recovery, or legal obligations.
To request deletion of your account and associated personal information, email [email protected]. We will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify account data, except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, or operational reasons.
7. Data Security
Peachbend uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including hashed passwords, HTTPS in production, HttpOnly session cookies, CSRF protections on API requests, and access controls around accounts and files. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. User Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, data portability, or withdrawal of consent where consent is the legal basis we rely on. You can:
- Update your display name, profile photo, and email-notification preferences in your account
- Review and revoke other signed-in sessions from account session settings
- Delete specific uploads, lessons, and conversations in the product
- Email [email protected] to request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information we hold
We may need to verify your request before completing it. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority in your country.
9. Google Authorization
You can manage or revoke Peachbend’s access to your Google Account in your Google Account permissions at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Revoking Google access may stop Google Sign-In and Peachbend’s ability to retrieve Google Drive files you add as sources. It does not automatically delete your Peachbend account or all data Peachbend already stored (such as your email, saved lessons, or previously ingested source text). To delete that Peachbend-held data, use the in-product deletion tools and/or email us as described above.
10. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Peachbend uses cookies and similar storage for authentication, sessions, security, and preferences — not for advertising.
- Authentication cookies. Secure session cookies keep you signed in and allow Peachbend’s website to communicate with its backend.
- Security cookies. Django sets a CSRF cookie used to protect state-changing API requests.
- Preferences. Light/dark theme is stored in the browser’s local storage. Other browser storage may remember interface preferences or retain a short-lived copy of work in the current browser tab.
You can block cookies in your browser, but sign-in and core product features will not work without authentication cookies.
11. Children and Student Accounts
Peachbend is designed for educational use and may be used by students, teachers, tutors, homeschool families, and organizations. Teachers on eligible plans can create student/viewer accounts and assign lessons.
Where a person cannot independently consent to use the Services under the laws that apply to them, they may use Peachbend only with appropriate authorization from a parent, guardian, school, teacher, or other legally authorized party. This policy does not claim COPPA, FERPA, GDPR-K, or similar educational-privacy or children’s-privacy certifications.
If you are a teacher, school, organization, parent, or guardian providing student information to Peachbend, you are responsible for having the authority and any required notices or consents under applicable law before you create accounts or upload student materials. Student/viewer accounts store the same kinds of account and learning data described above, and assigned lessons may include personalized content generated for that learner.
If you believe we have collected information from a child in a manner that is not appropriate, contact [email protected] and we will review the request.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
The Services may link to or embed third-party sites and tools, including YouTube, Google services, and websites returned by search. Those third parties have their own privacy policies. Peachbend is not responsible for their practices.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services after an update means you are using Peachbend under the revised policy. We may post a notice in the product for material changes, but we do not promise individual email notice for every revision.
